The Story

A Grammy-winning artist from New Orleans with over 50 recordings to his credit, Adonis Rose has also been Artistic Director of the 18-piece New Orleans Jazz Orchestra since 2017. An innovative, in-demand drummer who has played and recorded with the biggest names in jazz, including Terence Blanchard, Betty Carter, Dianne Reeves, Marcus Roberts, Harry Connick, Jr., Nicholas Payton and Wynton Marsalis, Rose has performed on the some of the most renowned stages in the world, including Carnegie Hall, Apollo Theater, Birdland, Olympia in Paris, North Sea Jazz Festival, Umbria Jazz Festival, Newport Jazz Festival and Jazz at Lincoln Center. For his third appearance at the Exit Zero Jazz Festival, Rose has assembled an all-star lineup of musicians from the Crescent City featuring vocalist Phillip Manuel.

The Sound:

Rose will lead his all-star aggregation through a set of familiar tunes associated with such New Orleans legends as Ellis Marsalis, Allen Toussaint, The Meters, Dr. John, and Allen Toussaint. Expect a healthy dose of funk with forays into second-line and swing and from this flexible crew.
