The Story
The high-energy, genre-bending powerhouse brass band from Asbury Park is back to make a joyful noise both up and down the streets of Cape May, and in Carney’s Main Room, in their return engagement at the Exit Zero Jazz Festival. Fall in with the David Clemans Second Line as this ebullient brass band, led by trombonist-arranger Ian Gray, winds its way through Washington Street mall and into the hearts of festival goers.

Classic New Orleans parade fare like “When the Saints Go Marchin’ In” and Danny Barker’s “Tootie Ma Is a Big Fine Thing” is blended with funk tunes like The Meters’ “Look-Ka-Py-Py” and “Cissy Strut” and R&B grooves like Bobby Womack’s “It’s All Over Now,” Lauryn Hill’s “Doo Woo (That Thing)” and Hugh Masekela’s hit “Grazing in the Grass” into one celebratory sound when the Ocean Avenue Stompers roll into town.
